I am due to attend court;

can I bring someone with me?

You may bring someone with you to keep you company while you wait at the court. Whether that person can go into the hearing depends upon the type of hearing before the court.

If the case is one that is dealt with in open court then the person accompanying you will be able to sit in the public area of the court room. They will not ordinarily be able to speak on your behalf.

If the case is one that is dealt with in closed court then the person accompanying you will normally have to wait outside.
