COVID-19 FAQs for attending court

This is a live document which will be added to as the need arises.

The Court encourages individuals to follow the Public Health Guidance and the steps you can take to stay safe and protect others.

  1. Are court hearings taking place?

Courts will continue to operate as normal. We will only interrupt our service if directed by legislation or staff illness prevents us from functioning.

  1. Are any measures in place in the courtroom?
  • Furniture has been spaced out
  • Hand sanitiser is available in the waiting area and in the courtroom
  • Windows will be open to provide ventilation
  • There is no legal requirement to wear a face covering, we do encourage this.
  • Surfaces are wiped down at the end of court session.
  1. What should I do if I have symptoms or test positive for COVID-19?

  1. Will my hearing be postponed?

The court will consider if your hearing can go ahead by video link or telephone. This is permitted by the law and will also depend on whether you feel well enough to take part.
